New Fire Minister Bob Neill MP to deliver keynote address at Fire & Rescue 2010

Fire & Rescue 2010 will be the platform for one of Bob Neill MP’s first addresses as Fire Minister. Having been appointed on 21st May, Bob Neill MP, current Conservative member for Bromley and Chislehurst and former leader of the London Fire and Civil Defence Authority in the 1980s, will deliver a keynote address to lay out his plans for taking the industry forward. Delegates of the Conference – Leading a Lean and Effective Fire & Rescue Service – will benefit from topical content focusing on three main themes: dealing with the financial climate and change; the built environment; and environmental mitigation and adaptation.

Fire & Rescue 2010 promises to be an unmissable event for all fire and rescue professionals. Taking place at the Harrogate International Centre from 29 – 30 June 2010, the event is hosted in partnership with the Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA), the Fire Protection Association (FPA) and the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).

As the UK’s official exhibition and conference for the industry, Fire & Rescue will offer visitors an extensive exhibition as well as an expansive and free-of-charge educational programme within three dedicated seminar theatres.

The free seminars will be split into three strands: the FIRESA Pavilion focusing on the latest developments in fire and rescue equipment and technology including new generation battery hydraulics, water mist suppression for compartment fires, powder based class A foam for wildland fires and compact vehicles; the Best Practice Area featuring presentations from exhibiting UK fire and rescue services on successful recent initiatives; and the Fire & Rescue Learning Zone, sponsored by Draeger Safety, focusing on operational performance, false alarm reduction for HMOs, revised learning and development strategies, operational safety and the route to qualified incident commander.

More than 100 leading manufacturers and suppliers will be showcasing their latest developments including Angloco, Draeger Safety, Eurocopter, EADS, Lion Apparel, Bristol Uniforms, Vimpex, Bluecher UK Ltd, Godiva, Firstfire Ltd, WL Gore, Fortek Computers and Trelleborg.

If you are interested in attending the Conference, please contact Vicky Price at the FCEL on 01608 812 534 or vprice@thefpa.co.uk and she will be able to assist you.
