UBM Live launches multi platform exhibition app to improve visitor experience at LIW 2011

Visitor’s to Leisure Industry Week 2011 are set to benefit from a truly interactive experience as the UBM Live team launch a free Smartphone app to help get the very best out of the show. Developed in response to overwhelming feedback from 2010 visitors and exhibitors, the impressive LIW Mobile App will help visitors to plan their day in addition to offering exhibitors and speakers even more opportunity to interact with the out of home leisure industry community.

Recent research conducted for UBM Live by Fusion Communications demonstrated that visitors’ experience at an exhibition could be enhanced with the use of an interactive Smartphone app. Ninety five percent of respondents who visited UBM Live’s flag ship security show, IFSEC 2011 owned some sort of smartphone. Forty four percent said they would be interested in using a Smartphone app at a trade exhibition while 56% said they’d benefit from an interactive floor plan. It was also recently reported in the events press that Smartphone sales jumped nearly 50 per cent in the first quarter of 2010, equating to around 53m phones and the Apple App Store alone features hundreds of thousands of apps. It is therefore imperative that exhibition organisers utilise this technology to engage with audiences and enhance networking opportunities between visitors and exhibitors. Helping to ensure optimum accessibility, the free LIW Mobile App functions in areas of poor internet connectivity and runs on multiple phone platforms including iPhone, BlackBerry and Android models.

The LIW Mobile App, sponsored by CFM and Matrix Fitness, provides easy-to-use, interactive capabilities to enhance the overall visitor event experience. The Dashboard keeps visitors organised with up-to-the-minute information about the show and visitor schedules can be organised and viewed at a glance. The built in Twitter and RSS features streams exhibitor and organisers news to keep them abreast of industry trends and key topics. Alerts allow attendees to receive important real-time communications from the show organiser via push notifications allowing the organisers to communicate reminders and helpful hints and tips to prospective visitors’ both before and during the show.
Audiences will be able to rate and comment on educational sessions in real time as well as having the opportunity to download or email exhibitor collateral while the community photo feature will allow visitors to share their show experiences visually. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, this brand new app features an interactive floor plan which will aid visitors in finding their way around this large and diverse show.
For exhibitors, the LIW Mobile App will provide leisure organisations with the opportunity for mobile sponsorship and promotion through banner and multimedia advertising, offering exhibitors a far-reaching, cost-effective promotional tool utilising this popular medium which is relatively new to the exhibitions market.

In addition to being an effective tool for the trade exhibition itself, the LIW Mobile App also lives on throughout the rest of the year; providing users with an industry reference tool highlighting company, product and contact information plus exhibitor advertising and news all year long.  Since exhibitor content can be managed by the exhibitors themselves, it will provide a place to direct new business prospects to, whenever new information is available, on a device they already use frequently.
